A curated body of work spanning decades of travel and encounter. Each project is less a finished statement than an ongoing inquiry — a lifelong exploration of place, people, and the quiet forces that shape human identity.
“Photography, for me, is not a destination but a way of learning to see: returning to the same questions with fresh eyes, finding that the deeper you look, the more there is still to discover.”
“I choose as subjects people who maintain a spiritual dialogue with the natural world.”
I choose as subjects people who maintain a spiritual dialogue with the natural world. I seek these communities, observing the cadence of daily life, with the hope of filling a deficit I have found in my own existence. In the rhythms of their daily life I find something my own world rarely offers: stillness, continuity, and a sense of belonging that runs deeper than circumstance. These communities carry a wholeness that modernity has traded away — and I go looking for what remains of it, and what it might restore in me. Driven by the opportunity to expand my understanding of what it means to be human, my work explores indigenous cultures and the traditions that connect them to the land.
Each journey begins with a curiosity rooted in a deep respect for the history and traditions I encounter. Immersing myself in the places and people I photograph affords me the opportunity to learn and expand the boundaries of my own conciseness. Whether traversing the high plateaus of the Andes, the remote valleys of the Himalayas, or holy rivers and lakes of the world, the camera opens doors to meaningful connections that transcend language and cultural barriers. The camera and the project give me an excuse for coexisting in the presence of these great places and cultures.
Through these experiences, I’ve come to understand that photography isn’t just about capturing images—it’s about listening, observing, and honoring the stories people share. The wisdom we find encapsulated within tradition offers profound lessons about our relationship with the land, with each other, and with ourselves. My work seeks to understand, preserve, and celebrate these perspectives in the context of a rapidly changing world.
Through my various travels I have come to the understanding that although apparent language and cultural obstacles exist between us. Closer introspection guided by a curious and patient mind, demonstrates that as we navigate the daily rituals of life, we share more similarities than differences. It is this recognition — quiet, accumulative, and occasionally startling — that gives the work its meaning and keeps me returning. This, perhaps, is what I most hope my photographs convey.
I have a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware, with an emphasis in digital image and signal processing. My passion for photography began in Philadelphia, where wondering among the urban landscapes sparked a creative awakening. Since then, driven by curiosity about our world, I’ve used the camera and photo essay as my means of exploration and expression.
